What is a Cracked Server?

In reality, Minecraft servers are not “cracked” because it is a feature included in Vanilla Minecraft. A cracked server is set to offline mode to bypass Mojang service verification. Offline servers can be played without a legitimate Minecraft account and are not approved by Mojang; therefore, cracked accounts can be a form of piracy. These can be illegal and generally frowned upon in the community. We at Snakecraft Hosting do not recommend setting your server to offline mode. There are use cases where servers must be offline; this is fine (ex, a proxy server like Bungee).

Security Risk

Since offline mode does not verify player names, anyone with any name can join your server. This is a significant security risk because an attacker can log in with an Operator’s name and have complete control over the server.

Illegal Use

Snakecraft Hosting services may not be used for illegal purposes or to support unlawful activities. Please read more in our Terms of Service.
