Mojang is constantly modifying and adding to Minecraft, so keeping up to date with your server is important. This guide will help you do just that.
*Note: You can never downgrade your world to an older version; you can only upgrade the existing map. If you made a previous backup, that can be restored without issues.*
- Stop your server on the control panel
- (Optional, but very recommended) Create a backup
- Open the files tab in the left-hand nav bar
- Delete server.jar
- Go to your startup tab and locate the "MINECRAFT VERSION" variable
- Make sure it says "latest" or the latest version number
- Now go to your settings tab and click "Reinstall Server"
- Once that has been done, it should have gotten the latest version of paper
Alternatively:
- Stop your server on the control panel
- (Optional, but recommended) Create a backup
- open the files tab in the left-hand nav bar
- Go to PaperMC’s website and download the latest jar file
- Once downloaded, rename the jar file to server.jar
- Go back to the file manager on our control panel and simply drag and drop server.jar into the root directory
